Under the golden hues of a warm, breezy evening, 467 of Westminster High School’s Class of 1987 gathered for a graduation unlike any other. It was Tuesday,June 2, 1987, precisely 6:30 PM, as 72-degree winds swept across the football field in Westminster, Maryland. The stage was set for a memorable moment in time, one that would etch itself into local lore. The absence of traditional religious elements made headlines that day, with “NO Religion” boldly proclaimed by the local paper, adding an air of controversy to the milestone event. Undeterred, the graduating class marched with poise and purpose, their gowns rippling like banners of triumph.
